Contemporary Medical Acupuncture is an adaptation on the traditional Chinese approach with the goal of inserting needles into anatomically defined insertion sites instead of meridians. This requires the healthcare practitioner to have extensive anatomical knowledge with over 300 hours of hands-on training.
How is Medical Acupuncture Different from Traditional Acupuncture?
Contemporary Medical Acupuncture uses gentle electricity to stimulate the acupuncture needles. This positively influences the activity of nerves, vessels, endocrine, exocrine and the immune system. This is called “neuromodulation” and it is why it can be an effective treatment.
