What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a safe and effective therapeutic modality used to encourage natural healing, reduce or relieve pain, and improve the function of the affected areas of the body.

Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of fine, single-use, sterile needles into the skin and tissues at specific points in the body to achieve a therapeutic effect by releasing endorphins, which are the body’s natural pain-relieving neurohormones. This helps to stimulate balance in the body’s biochemical and neurological systems, which helps to reduce pain.

Acupuncture is an ancient form of Chinese medicine. Our therapists use a more anatomical or medical approach to acupuncture treatment which involves using the traditional Chinese acupuncture points, combined with a knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology to achieve the desired result on the nervous and musculoskeletal systems.

If our therapists decide that acupuncture is right for a client, it is typically used as one component of a client’s comprehensive treatment plan. Acupuncture can be used to treat a range of conditions including neuromusculoskeletal complaints and pain.
