Frequently Asked Questions:
Please bring gym clothing that allows your therapist to see the area to be treated (i.e. shorts for knee, tank top for shoulder, etc.) and appropriate footwear for movement. If you have seen your doctor before coming in, please bring your physiotherapy referral. Also bring copies of any relevant medical test results (i.e. x-rays, MRI, ultrasound). Most importantly, please bring a positive attitude and a willingness to work.
As a Defy client you will always spend at least 60-minutes in the facility to complete your session. The first two appointments will be 60-minutes one-on-one with your therapist. For the third and subsequent sessions, you will have a minimum of 30-minutes one-on-one. The remaining time will be spent working on your individualized program that will be reviewed and provided to you.
You want to feel and perform better and we want that to happen in the most effective way possible. After many years working in the physiotherapy field, we know home exercise programs have very low compliance rates and when done, are performed poorly. Our philosophy eliminates this obstacle in your recovery.
Your initial assessment is packed full of information. We spend a large amount of that time getting to know your needs and goals, performing a complete examination and assessment of the way your body functions, and explaining our findings to you. In addition, we try our best to get you started on a few things in visit one. Visit two is very important for you to return with questions, tell us what has or hasn’t worked, and for us to implement your treatment plan. Between visit 1 and 2 your therapist will dedicate time creating an individualized program to address your needs that were found in the assessment.
Our space is a 4000 square foot, open-concept design clinic. As former athletes who spent many fond hours in training rooms bonding with our team-mates, we want to create a community atmosphere where like-minded individuals can work toward success. We feel that community is fostered by promoting positive interactions between clients. We encourage clients to talk to each other, share stories, motivate each other, be respectful of one another, and help create a positive experience for everyone around you. We are respectful of situations where privacy is necessary or preferred, and we will do our best to accommodate treatment in one of our private rooms when possible.

The amount of sessions you will need to see your physiotherapist is very individualized to the client. We do not currently treat patients under either MVA or WSIB coverage. We would be happy to refer you to a clinic that does so that you can get the care you require.
As with the majority of physiotherapy clinics in Ontario, we are a private clinic and are not eligible to bill OHIP for physiotherapy services. Extended health plans provide varying amounts of yearly physiotherapy coverage.
