Defy Sports Performance & Physiotherapy is a Physiotherapist-owned health and performance clinic in Guelph, Ontario. At Defy, we aim to empower our clients to move and perform at their highest level – in sport, in fitness, in health and in life. Our team of friendly and knowledgeable practitioners provides client-directed care, meaning we believe our clients are the experts. It’s our role to fully appreciate their concerns, develop individualized plans based on their goals, and guide and encourage them as they work towards their highest potential. At Defy, the work does not stop at pain free – this is where the real fun begins!
Our mission is to empower our clients to take ownership of their own health. We believe that our health care system needs “reworking” and that we are in a position to optimize the role of supportive therapies to better individual health. We aim to integrate a seamless transition between rehabilitation to wellness, performance and fitness. Our sessions emphasize mobility, movement, strength and recovery; we use manual therapy to optimize movement and always follow up with appropriate tissue loading.
We aim to foster a clinic culture that is welcoming based on a foundation of mutual respect and shared success. We honour clients and colleagues from all walks of life, and work to become aware of and support marginalized groups in our clinic and community.
Ongoing education is highly valued at Defy. Our clinicians are encouraged to challenge and question their biases, beliefs and frameworks in order to integrate new ideas, opinions and perspectives.
