What is Shockwave Therapy?
Our Shockwave therapy team use a machine to deliver a series of strong pulses to an injured area, creating strong energy waves that can accelerate the body’s natural healing process. The energy wave comes through an applicator that is held against the desired tissue, using gel as a conductor.
What does Shockwave Therapy do?
The force generated by the energy waves creates small bubbles in the tissue, which stimulates your cells that form blood vessels and help with bone and connective tissue healing. Shockwave therapy is most effective in cases that have been unresponsive to treatment, including injuries to tendons, ligaments, capsules, muscles and bones.
Shockwave therapy stimulates new blood vessel growth which helps to regenerate damaged tissue. Sometimes our tissues need this “kick-start” for a healing process that seems to have hit a plateau.
